its not that simple, to get a life - wow is perfect for people with certain insecurities and does provide for some emotional uplift. However, this of course must be taken in moderation as any therapy.

Please, for the love of god, if you do something like this DON'T USE INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE. The people you have described here do not make up 11 million people. I, for one, know of several friends that I met online that practice martial arts, have a family and maintain a healthy lifestyle, yet they still manage to get in some WoW time. The people described here have addiction problems in the first place, doesn't mean that WoW is that addicting.

Let me point out what is terribly wrong with this very one-sided article. First of all, 12. Corpse Runs... If you think this is a reason to quit the game, you are one sad human being. Corpse running is an aspect of the game which allows players to retrieve their corpses after dying. Calling this a reason to quit the game would be like saying "You should not play Call of Duty because when you prestige you lose everything. This article also fails to talk about the people who play the game sparingly, as with any other video game, who there are a surprising number of. Whose to say that you can't get addicted to any other game? WoW is a great game if you are able to limit yourself. The game just has a bad rep, so don't listen to these biased articles and try the game yourself before you decide whether or not you want to play.

You are dumb as hell, I was a high school jock state caliber wrestler, I wrestled in college, did Jiu Jitzu, boxing, Muay Thai, and other combat sports with success. I was in the Army for quite a few years, and was a MACP instructor (I taught people how to fight). I have a gym in my basement that my wife (who plays wow) and myself use everyday to train. I have a job, and a family, and guess what? I play WoW. Oh and by the way, my wife and I are very sexually active for a couple our age. So you are clearly clueless and just seek to troll dumbass

LOL so half of those are health warnings, so lets say seven reasons. The violence, addiction, and marriage problems run much, much deeper than just WoW; so we are at four.

1. Everyone knows quests are repetitive and boring
2. We pay because its cheaper than getting trashed at the bar and looking like a fool (or whatever you hipsters do)
3. The grind is part of the fun (Father of 2 kids I only play when they are in bed and my wife is on her farmville/FB/ect. and I am still competitive)

4. GY are right next to instances/raids now, and they are nonexistent in PVP so moot point.
5. (This is a bonus) You're dumb, and just another hater. GG

I guess it's true that WoW is meant to be addictive; a lot of games these days are. (Farmville, anyone?) But it seems kind of ridiculous to say _this particular game_ is responsible for various people's inability to manage their lives. The guy who turned violent, for instance: How do you know he wouldn't have flipped out just as badly if he had accompanied his alcohol with bingo? And at the other end of the problem spectrum, there are people like me. I'll obsessively play WoW with my endless trial account searching for my next fabulous pixel toy...unless I don't have access to WoW or don't have any WoW-based objectives in mind, in which case I'll obsessively play another MMO, or an iPod game, or spider solitaire. Heck, if I ran out of games I'd obsessively watch paint dry. "But Mom, I can't leave until this last paint-drop has solidified!"

I wrote this in response to somebody complain about those insane (I mean
that in the real definition of the word, not the slang meaning)
fanatical boys, and it shows me something about myself. I didn't know I
had grown into an adult 'til now:

With over three decades of both computer and video game use in my lifetime, I will share this bit of philosophy with you:

You are blessed to live in a Republic that allows you to worry about non-sense like this.

So,
let the pathetic fanatical boys, who are 1% of 1% of 1% of the entire
gaming population and revenue stream, rant and rave like a bunch of
nuts. If companies, like Capcom, and designers take it too personally,
that a bunch of armchair quaterbacks are telling them how to design the
game, again, that 1% of 1% of 1%, then they are just as foolish as the
fanatical boys.
I realized most "hardcore" losers in video gaming are
just that: losers. They talk funny (have a very strange accent), use
strange words and concepts (god-like, awesomeness, bad-ass), and don't
understand basic concepts of living within mankind. It saddens me that
most of these losers have the ability to vote, and vote in the wrong
way.

The main reason these losers exist is because, well frankly,
the lack a good size of their packages. If you get what I'm saying. It
must be nice to have parents give them all the money they need, take
care of them, and their mistakes, and never have to live without money,
without food, and ignore the entire world. A good global war, where they
are drafted or jailed, is needed for these losers, and perhaps, they'll
have an understanding about how blessed they are to be playing video
games in the first place.

After living my life, and realized,
after nearly three decades, I complain about TV shows the most, with
video games a close second. Yet, I'd rather be a farmer or a rancher,
making a real product with my skills and abilities. When I look at the
vast amount of garbage I have acquired, and still acquire, I think about
how it's all meaningless. When I'm dead, I can't take it with me, and
when I'm alive, it's not worth my personal time to get involved anymore.
Raising a family, and farming, well, that's real victory that these
video games will never allow. Big deal if you were to get all the
achievements unlocked on Resident Evil 6. Will that achievement feed
you? Keep the lights on? Allow the AC to be on? The heater? Fill the
gasoline tank if your car?

Consider that I'm not attacking you,
or any particular gamers, geeks, nerds, or losers, but giving you
knowledge to become better people, who will earn and play better games,
instead of the low-born, low-class games that the majority of you
blithering adult-children play. Grow up, and the games will grow, too.

To quote Mortal Kombat 3:

"There is no knowledge that is not power."

Yes,
I own and have beaten that game. Take a chilly pill (as Bucky Katt
would say), and live your life, play what you want, and don't complain
about the meaningless.
